Congrats to Our June 2019 Instructor of The Month – Amy Gilpin

We’re happy to announce the winner of June 2019’s Instructor of the month – Amy Gilpin! She knew she wanted to be a part of the Hondros family right from the first phone interview. Amy enjoyed the down to earth conversation and “since that initial experience, it’s only gotten better. I truly feel like everyone is part of a large family.” She continues to describe Hondros as being supportive, welcoming, and fun.

“Since day one, I’ve been very impressed with how well everyone does their job. Everyone seems to get along very well and work well together. There seems to be good organization and procedures in place, and as a manager of a small firm, I know how time-consuming and difficult that can be. Hondros is very professional but fun. And this makes it a very comfortable place to work.”

Her three career lessons are

1. Trust yourself – I can’t remember every deal or all the details of that deal. But I know that whatever transpired, and whoever the parties involved were, I did my absolute best, treated everyone well, and was honest and ethical.
2. Treat everyone well and be honest – My career has grown through referrals and repeat business.
3. In this field, you’re playing the long game – If you lay a solid foundation in the beginning, become a lifetime learner, and adjust to market changes and client needs, a prosperous career awaits.

Her proudest moment at Hondros is when she was asked to,

“Teach a six-hour continuing education class to 75 agents. My main objective was to make the class fun and educational. I wanted to represent Hondros well, as well as myself. It ended up being a great experience, and I’m so proud of how it went. And the fact that three of those 75 agents were students from my first pre-licensure class, was pretty great, too.”

Here’s Amy’s advice for new instructors:

“Have fun with it. It’s great that Hondros has such great material that is updated often, and that they give us the flexibility to make the class our own as well. Take chances and get to know your students. Don’t be afraid to learn from them. Be open to those experiences.”

She defines success as “fulfillment at work, happiness at home, and contentment within.” And continues to say, “It’s taken time and effort to find this balance, and it’s always a work in progress. But success in life isn’t about how much I have or how much money I make, it’s trying to be my best self around those I love.” Amy greatly values first, defining your own success, and then creating it yourself, as she recalls her favorite quote:
