Hondros Family of Companies welcomes new President, Jerry Weissberg

The Hondros Family of Companies is excited to welcome its new President, Jerry Weissberg. With over 20 years of hands-on management experience in IT training, higher education  e-learning, publishing and adult education, Jerry is a driven leader whose passion for education and “go getter” approach has made him a diamond in the rough. The decades of expertise and strategic development that Jerry brings to the table makes him an admirable asset to the Hondros Family of Companies, and his new role will continue to enhance excellence in education both online and classroom in Ohio and at the national level.

Jerry didn’t pick the nicest of winters to relocate from sunny California to central Ohio. Before bracing the negative temperatures of the Midwest, Jerry spent 10 years in California as the Vice President and General Manager of Education To Go (ed2go), a business unit of Cengage Learning. Under his leadership, ed2go prospered as a market leader in online adult continuing education and career and certification training, serving more than 250,000 adult learners per year.

“I love education,” says Jerry. “I also love technology and being around new technology. While I don’t have formal training as an educator, I‘m intrigued by the opportunities for technology and education to work together – complimenting each other.”

With his B.S. in Industrial Engineering and MBA from the Rochester Institute of Technology, Jerry is constantly inspired by the physics of projects and new products, and the way everything fits and works together. In his words, “It’s the concept of how people interface with systems and the opportunities to optimize and enrich that experience in a meaningful way.”

Jerry Weissberg and his family have lived in six different states (now including Ohio), and has had a uniquely successful career that has given him valuable experience at all levels in both the technology and education industry. So why Hondros Family of Companies?

“John and Linda are interesting, successful entrepreneurs – just who they are and what they’ve done and how they’ve grown their businesses. I’ve never worked for a privately owned company before, and at this point in my life, I thought it would be a great thing to be a part of,” Jerry explains. “Hondros College and Hondros Learning represent a healthy mix of classroom and online businesses that are also national and local players. I want to contribute to that and be a part of the growth.”

Besides being a driven senior executive with the track record to prove it, Jerry does have a life outside of the office. He enjoys running, and has even entered a few races with his two grown children. He is an avid reader and appreciates a stirring book on economics, technology innovation or the country of China. Jerry and his wife Kathy have two grown children, and are in the process of finding a house in central Ohio with their Golden Doodle Rylee.

But if there’s one phrase we can all take from Jerry when it comes to our own professional ethic, it’s to work hard and have fun.
