“ABC’s of CFPB” Seminar a Success for Real Estate Industry Professionals

Appraisal, Blog, Insurance, Mortgage Lending

On Friday, July 31st, Hondros College held the “ABC’s of CFPB” seminar in light of the new closing documents taking effect early fall. Industry professionals Kevin McClure, Dave McKee and Scott Stevenson conducted a three hour in-depth training in front of a packed house of real estate, insurance, appraisal and mortgage licensees, as well as CPA’s and attorneys.

“What a great event at Hondros College,” said Scott Stevenson, Esq. CEO of Northwest Title Family of Companies.  “I was honored to be a part of the panel discussion lead by moderator Kevin McClure, the president and CEO of the Arizona School of Real Estate and Business, where we discussed the changes that are about to take place in residential real estate industry.  The message was clear: new federal regulations will change the way residential real estate moves towards a closing table throughout the country.  The topic is simply critical knowledge for everyone in our industry.  All lenders, realtors, attorneys and settlement service providers need to hear the message that change is coming and we all must be ready for it so that we can properly guide the consumer through the new process of buying, selling or refinancing residential real estate.”

As of October 3, 2015, new Consumer Financial Protection Bureau (CFPB) regulations will change the way real estate professionals write closing contracts and do business. This seminar focused on the new closing process, how to best communicate it to buyers and sellers, the new AAR form and more.

“We all had a great time today sharing information on TRID and the CFPB to those in the industry that want to be informed and ahead of the changes coming in October,” said Dave McKee, Vice President of Priority Mortgage Corp and President of the Ohio Mortgage Bankers Association.

The attendees represented all sides of our industry: first time realtors, those with tens of years of experience as well as CPAs and Attorneys were in the audience.

“It is a testament to Hondros College’s connection to our industry that they were able to assemble such a prestigious audience for today’s class.  Clearly the education that Hondros provides isn’t only for those looking to enter our industry; they continues to provide needed education for graduates and business owners alike.  I applaud Hondros College for all that they do in our community,” explained Scott Stevenson.
