How do I get my insurance license?

Complete the steps below:

  • Complete 40-hour classroom course or a self-study equivalent; Sign up for classes by visiting our Insurance page
  • Complete fingerprint/background check; This can be done at any Hondros College campus or view locations at www.fastfingerprints.com
  • Pass the state exam given by Prometric; Scheduling of the exam is done by calling 877-346-4014 or visiting www.prometric.com
  • Complete the online application at www.NIPR.com

How do I schedule my proctor?

Scheduling to take a proctor at the campus can be done by calling 1-888-HONDROS (466-3767). Proctors are given Monday – Friday, 9-11am or 2-4pm.

Where do I get a proctor code?

You can call Student Services at 1-888-HONDROS (466-3767) and one of our Student Services Associates will provide the proctor code.

Where do I find the affidavit?

You will find the affidavit after you log in to take your proctor exam and click on the test. You will have the option to “download proctor forms”, this is the affidavit.

Who can be my proctor person?

A proctor needs to be a disinterested 3rd party, someone who has nothing to gain from your test completion; Disinterested 3rd parties can almost never be family members or friends.

If I have questions, while taking the self-study, can I call Hondros with any questions about the materials I may have?

Do I have to be fingerprinted if I’ve recently been fingerprinted for…(adoption, school, work)?

The State of Ohio Department of Insurance requires all new licensees to be fingerprinted specifically for insurance licensing.

How do I get my real estate license?

The state of Ohio requires 120 hours of in-classroom education, followed by a State licensing exam. Additional information can be found here.

Do I have to have a sponsor to start the classes?

A sponsor is not needed to start Real Estate classes; however, you will need a sponsoring Broker before taking the State exam.

Do you provide job placement and/or help me find a sponsor?

Every month we offer a Career Night for Real Estate Pre-Licensing students. This is aimed at helping those becoming Real Estate Sales Agents find a sponsoring Broker.

How long are my certificates good for?

Upon successful completion of your Real Estate pre-licensing classes you will be given completion certificates. These are good for ten years.

Insurance certificates are good for 180 days. If you do not pass the state exam within the 180 days, you will be required to complete the course or self-study again.

How do I schedule my state exam?

Real Estate state exams are scheduled by calling PSI Exams at 1-800-733-9267 or by visiting their website at psiexams.com.

Do I have to take all the classes at once?

After purchasing classes from Hondros College you have 6 months to complete them.

We offer very flexible scheduling options to meet your needs.

Is there financial aid?

Our Real Estate courses are currently not eligible for financial aid such as PELL grants or VA funding, but we have scholarships available on our website as well as other forms of assistance by outside agencies. Click here for all the information.

Does the military discount extend to spouses?

Military Discounts are reserved for those who served and have a copy of their DD214 and/or military ID; If you are an immediate family member of someone who has either of these, please contact Student Services at 888-HONDROS (888-466-3767) to discuss your options.

Why do I only have 1 time to take the CompuCram pre-assessment?

You can take the CompuCram practice tests, vocabulary reviews, and simulated exams as many times as you’d like. The initial Pre-Assessment test can only be taken once. This is for your benefit, as it gives the program a baseline of your knowledge and allows the program to evolve as your knowledge grows.

Is the full amount due when I register or is there a payment plan?

Full payment is required at the time of purchase. Classes may be purchased individually to help lessen the upfront cost.

Do I HAVE to buy the books?

It is highly recommended that books are purchased, though not required. If you purchase a package, books will be included.

How can I reschedule my class(es)?

Once you are registered, you will be given a student account at Hondros.com that will allow you to make any changes to your schedule that you need to.

Your login name should be the email that you provided upon registration and your password is automatically default to ‘welcome’ (this can be changed once you login)

Can I get a copy of my background check?

To get a copy of your background check, contact BCI&I at 1-877-224-0043. There should be an option to request a copy.

Do you issue a 1098-T to students?

Since we are privately, not federally, funded we do not issue the 1098-T.

I have a license in another state, what do I have to do to get an Ohio license?

You will need to contact the Ohio Dept. of Real Estate to find out what they will require of you to obtain an Ohio License. Once you find out, call Hondros College and we can help you fulfill those requirements.
