How to Become An Appraiser

Steps to Licensure

Licensees must be at least 18 yrs. of age.

Step 1

The Required Core Curriculum to become a Kentucky Associate Appraiser totals 90 hours.  The following are the required courses:

  • Basic Appraisal Principles
  • Basic Appraisal Procedures
  • 15-hour National USPAP Course or Equivalent
  • Residential Market Analysis Highest and Best Use

Step 2

To apply for licensure applicants must submit the following:

  • Complete the application for licensure.
  • Attach certificates of courses completion.
  • All required fees.

Associates education must be obtained in the 5 yr. period immediately preceding application.

Step 3

To work under the supervision of a Kentucky certified residential or certified general real property appraiser.  The supervising appraiser shall:

  • Been licensed or certified by the board for a period of 1 yr.
  • Be in good standing with the board.
  • Be responsible for training and supervising of the associate.

The supervising appraiser shall be responsible for an associates appraisal reports by signing and certifying that the report is in compliance.
