License Requirements

Appraiser Trainee

Required Courses:

The required courses to become an Appraisal Trainee total 90 hrs.

  • Basic Appraisal Principles
  • Basic Appraisal Procedures
  • 15-hr National USPAP Course
  • Residential Market Analysis & Highest &Best Use OR General Market Analysis & Highest & Best Use

Both the Trainee Appraiser and Supervisory Appraiser shall be required to complete a course that, at minimum, complies with the specifications for course content established by the AQB. The course must be completed by the Trainee Appraiser prior to obtaining a Trainee Appraiser credential, and completed by the Supervisory Appraiser prior to supervising a Trainee Appraiser.

The following courses are not permitted to be completed online: Basic Appraisal Principles, Basic Appraisal Procedures, 15-hr National USPAP, Residential Market Analysis & Highest & Best Use, Residential Sales Comparison and Income Approaches.

 

To Become Licensed Residential

Required Education

The required courses to become a Licensed Residential Appraiser need to complete an additional 110 hrs.

  • Residential Appraiser Site Valuation and Cost Approach
  • Residential Sales Comparison and Income Approaches
  • Residential Report Writing and Case Studies
  • Statistics, Modeling and Finance
  • Advanced Residential Applications and Case Studies
  • Appraisal Subject Matter Electives

You must have completed 30 semester hours from an accredited college, junior college, community college or university.  Applicants holding an Associate degree or higher from an accredited college, junior college, community college or university satisfy the 30-hour college level education requirement.

 Required Experience

2,500 hours of appraisal experience in no fewer than 24 months is required.

  • Residential Appraiser Site Valuation and Cost Approach
  • Residential Sales Comparison and Income Approaches
  • Residential Report Writing & Case Studies
  • Statistics, Modeling and Finance
  • Advanced Residential Applications and Case Studies
  • Appraisal Subject Matter Electives

Required Experience 

You must have a Bachelor’s degree or higher from an accredited college or university.

2,500 hours of appraisal experience in no fewer than 24 months is required.
