How to Become A Licensed Residential Appraiser in Ohio

You must complete the requirements to become an Appraiser Trainee before moving forward with becoming a Licensed Residential Appraiser.

Step 1 - Education & Experience

Complete an additional 75 hours of pre-licensing courses as well as the required hours of experience.  Learn more about the required hours of experience.

Step 2 - Submit Application

Once you’ve completed the additional education and experience, you must apply with the state to become a State Licensed Registered Appraiser. Learn More.

Step 3 - Background Check

Complete and pass another Ohio BCI and FBI fingerprint-based background check.

Step 4 - Pass the Exam

Once you’ve received your Notice of Eligibility, you have 1 year to pass the state exam.
